Grant opportunities

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for the following two foundations.

Arthur Vining Davis Foundation
Funds projects that support the enhancement of humane care in health facilities. The Founation welcomes proposals that promote caring attitudes through inter-professional collaboration, provide training in patient-centered care, and improve the culture of physician education at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Verizon Foundation
Supports the advancement of literacy and K-12 education and fosters awareness and prevention of domestic violence.

Save America's Treasures is an annual grant program designed to provide critical investments in the preservation of the nation's most significant and endangered cultural treasures. The grant is administered by the National Park Service in collaboration with the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation supports original research and broad-based education that is related to science, technology and economics. All nonprofits are eligible. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.

Blockbuster is committed to supporting outreach programs and partnerships that are designed to deliver measurable, positive results in communities that its members and employees call home. Whenever possible, Blockbuster incorporates cash contributions with volunteerism and in-kind donations to help achieve maximum impact. All nonprofits are eligible. Youth Environmental Grants

The mission of Captain Planet Foundation is to fund and support hands-on envrionmental projects for children and youth. They work to encourage innovative programs that emplower children and youth to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities.

Proposals must promote understanding of environmental issues, focus on hands-on involvement and involve children and young adults. Grants awarded range from $250-$2,500.

Deadlines:3/31, 6/30, 9/30 and 12/31

Federal Grant Deadlines

Department of Energy: FY 2010 Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Program
These programs support efforts toward increasing private sector commercialization of technology developed through research and development, stimulating technological innovation in the private sector, and improving the return on investment from research for economic and social benefits to the nation.

Department of Health and Human Services: Statewide Family Network Grants
This program provides funds to enhance state capacity and infrastructure to be more oriented to the needs of children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances and their families.

Department of Justice: CCDO FY 10 Weed and Seed Communities Competitive Program
This program aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, criminal drug-related activity, and gang activity. The following four elements make up the two-pronged Weed and Seed strategy: law enforcement; community policing; prevention, intervention, and treatment; and neighborhood restoration.

Environmental Protection Agency: SmartWay Clean Diesel Finance Program
This program provides funds to create finance programs, such as low cost leases or revolving loan programs, to achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions throughout the United States.

Department of Health and Human Services: Substance Use and Abuse among U.S. Military Personnel, Veterans and their Families
This program supports efforts to enhance and accelerate research on the epidemiology, identification, prevention, and treatment of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use and abuse and associated mental health problems among active-duty or recently separated (e.g., Iraq and Afghanistan) military troops and their families.
